Two Romanians accused of fraud involving public phones across six counties appeared in court yesterday on a total of 40 charges. Mr Claudiu Vancea Ouidiu (21), of Temple Court, Dublin, and Mr Soran Dumitrescu (26) of Dominick Street, Dublin, had appeared in Portlaoise District Court on 20 charges of criminal damage to public phones with intent to defraud.
Det Sgt Tom McGrath told Dublin District Court the pair were charged with a further 10 offences each yesterday, and had nothing to say in reply.
The two men are accused of interfering with public payphones in Cos Meath, Louth, Westmeath, Laois, Kildare and Tipperary between July 5th and 26th. Judge Murrough Connellan remanded them in custody with consent to bail of £7,000 each.
