A ferry company operating a passenger service from Rossaveel to the Aran Island of Inis Mór will cease operations this Sunday.
Inishmore Ferries has provided a daily service to and from Inis Mór for the past three years. The company's only ferry - the Queen of Aran II - will cease operating at 6 p.m. on Sunday, while no date has been set to restart the service.
Inishmore Ferries is run by five directors, all of whom are from the Aran Islands.
A spokesperson for the company confirmed that the decision to cease operations was taken in the past few days and was due to financial constraints.
The press officer for the company, Mr Padraic Whelan, said they have no other option as the Government has failed to provide adequate support.
He added that the company does not receive any subsidies or grant aid from the Government.
