Shamrock Rovers have announced details of an agreement on the renting of commercial space at their new Tallaght-based stadium, allowing them to borrow enough funds to complete development work at their as yet unfinished home.

Rovers chairman Tony Maguire has confirmed businessman Ben Dunne will invest €2million into the new venture while Barkisland Developments Limited will take on the development of the new south stand.

"It's great news for the club and with financial backing for the new south stand a leisure complex will also be housed under the stand," explained Maguire.

Maguire also said the club was at an advanced stage of negotiations with the Thomas Read Group to run the bar and restaurant facilities which will be located in the main west stand.

Completion of the first phase is due to be completed in October and it is hoped the leisure facilities will be in place six months later.

A name for the new stadium is still under discussion as the club explore all commercial possibilities attached with naming a new ground.

Maguire hopes Rovers will be in a position to play their first home games in Tallaght in November. Failing that, the stadium will be ready in its entirety for the start of the new season in April 2004.
