An RUC woman constable who went with a colleague to deal with a disturbance in Portadown on October 26th, 1997, had to draw her protection weapon when confronted by a man pointing a shotgun.
At Craigavon Magistrates' Court yesterday Richard Gallery (39), Union Street, Portadown, pleaded guilty to two charges arising from what his solicitor described as "an unsavoury incident" at his home.
Gallery was sentenced to six months' imprisonment for possessing a double-barrelled shotgun and ammunition, and three months for disorderly behaviour. Both sentences were suspended for two years.
The resident magistrate, Mr Ken Nixon, made an order for the destruction of the shotgun.
