Australian rugby league winger Wendall Sailor has agreed
to switch codes and play rugby union next season, the Australian Rugby Union (ARU) announced today.
An ARU spokesman said Sailor, widely regarded as the finest winger in rugby league, had "agreed in principle" to join rugby union and a formal announcement was expected later this week.
ARU managing director John O'Neill said later Sailor could be available for Australia's end-of-season tour of the northern hemisphere in October, which includes tests against France and England.
