Russian President Vladimir Putin said today that terrorists must be dealt with "systematically," including cutting off their finances.

Speaking after talks with German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, he said they agreed that "terrorists must be dealt with systematically."

Mr Putin said he agreed with US President George W Bush that it is "necessary to (cut off) the financial resources of terrorists" in the wake of terrorist attacks in the United States.

Mr Putin, as well as Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, were in Berlin to discuss the US-led response to the attacks in New York and Washington.
