Russian police said they foiled a planned bomb attack on a McDonald's restaurant in the Arbat thoroughfare in Moscow today.

Investigators said they had found preparations for the attack after arresting a man for having illegal weapons, the Interfax news agency reported.

No immediate confirmation was available.

The report said the would-be attackers had exploded a test bomb of 300 grams (more than half a pound) of dynamite in a park outside the city.
