Ryanair has increased its minimum check-in time for all its flights due to increased security checks at all airports.
The airline announced today that passengers must now check in no later than 40 minutes before their scheduled departure, in order that the airline can maintain its performance record. The previous minimum was 30 minutes before the scheduled flight time, at which time Ryanair closed its check-in desks.
Ryanair's head of customer service, Ms Caroline Green said providing the most punctual service to passengers was the airline's "number one" priority.
"Moving to a minimum check-in time of 40 minutes for all Ryanair flights, will ensure all passengers
can clear security and screening facilities at all airports, especially during the busy spring and summer months ahead."
Ms Green said check-in desks for all Ryanair flights open two hours before the scheduled flight departure time and she strongly recommended all passengers check in early, especially if checking in baggage or if they require special assistance.
Passengers have been facing increased delays at airports in recent months as security measures are stepped up in the wake of the perceived threat from terrorism.
