No frills airline Ryanair saw passenger numbers rise by 6 per cent in the year to the end of February.

The airline said it carried 4.37 million passengers last month compared to 4.13 million passengers for the same month a year earlier.

However, while passengers numbers rose, Ryanair said load factor - a measure of how well it is filling seats - declined by 3 per cent in February as against the same month last year.

For the year ending February 28th 2010, 65.9 million passengers flew with the airline while load factor for the 12-month period was 82 per cent.
