South Korea's main opposition party, the Grand National Party, said today it would end a parliamentary boycott which has crippled the legislature since last week.

Members of the party, which is the dominant group in parliament, will take part in fresh vote this Thursday on a bill calling for an independent investigation into an election funding scandal involving parties and leading "chaebol" business conglomerates, it said in a statement.

The boycott had been triggered by President Roh Moo-hyun's decision last week to veto a bill to appoint a special counsel for the investigation.
