A sacristan who is already serving a seven-year sentence for raping a young girl has been given two further sentences for rape and sexual assault.
The 68-year-old layman, who did part-time work at a church in Leinster, pleaded guilty at the Central Criminal Court to three further charges of raping a then 11-year-old girl and to two charges of indecently assaulting another girl in 1997. He cannot be named for legal reasons.
Mr Justice Carney imposed terms of four years each on the rape charges and two years on the sexual assault counts, to run concurrently from December 18th, 1998.
