Jaguar boss Niki Lauda believes all Formula One drivers should take part in next weekend's U.S. Grand Prix in Indianapolis and has dismissed concerns over safety as "rubbish".
"There are contracts with the organisers, contracts with the FIA and contracts between the teams and their drivers," the Austrian triple world champion wrote in a Sunday newspaper column in Welt am Sonntag released one day ahead of publication.
"As long as all participants have not agreed to call off the race, I don't see any possibility for any side to breach those contracts," he added.
"All the drivers should take part in Indianapolis, and that includes Michael Schumacher."
The German Formula One world champion has, however, already confirmed he will take part in the U.S Grand Prix on September 30th.
Lauda said he was confident there would be no safety problems in Indianapolis following last week's suicide plane attacks on New York and Washington.
"If anybody has any doubts about that, I think that's complete rubbish," he wrote in his column.
