Commuter and intercity train services to Heuston Station in Dublin have resumed service following early morning disruption caused by the discovery of a body near Sallins, Co Kildare

A spokesman for Iarnród Éireann said trains were stopped after a driver travelling to Sallins saw a body on the line at around 6am.

Emergency services were called to the scene. Gardaí later said the body was that of a man and that they were not treating the death as suspicious.

Trains affected included intercity services from Cork, Limerick and Galway and commuter services from as far away as Athlone and Carlow.
