European Commissioner Mr Padraig Flynn yesterday opened "The Sanctuary", a self-catering group of accommodation units in the grounds of An Grianan, the Irish Countrywomen's Association headquarters in Termonfeckin, Co Louth.
The International Fund for Ireland (IFI) provided £144,000 under its Rural Development Programme towards this tourism initiative. IFI chairman Mr William T. McCarter said the close relationship and friendship between the ICA and the Northern Ireland Women's Institute was an example of the kind of co-operative network that the fund wished to encourage.
