A systematic investment programme for the west should be incorporated into the Government's national plan, Ms Dana Rosemary Scallon MEP has said.
In a statement released yesterday, she said that if true regional development was to be implemented or achieved, the people of her constituency Connacht/Ulster deserved more than lip service.
Calling the area the "unemployment blackspot of the nation" she said there were serious deficiencies in infra structural development and the actual provision of real long-term employment.
