Scholes has a chest infection and manager Alex Ferguson will check on him before kick-off.
Phil Neville, who missed Saturday's win over Aston Villa because of flu, is expected to be available.
David Beckham and Nicky Butt have minor calf injuries and Ferguson said they should both be fit.
Meanwhile, Ferguson finally expects to sign his new three-year contract with the club this week.
