Science Week Ireland runs until Sunday, November 8th, and has dozens of events each day to en- courage a better understanding of science. Most events are open to the public and free of charge, though booking is necessary in some cases.
What's on today, Friday, November 6th:
"Saturn Watch", an opportunity to see the ringed planet with Ireland's largest telescope, courtesy of Astronomy Ireland, at Papal Cross car park in the Phoenix Park (£1 charge), 8 p.m.
Minister of State for Science and Technology Mr Noel Treacy opens a new school of informatics at the National College of Ireland, Ranelagh, Dublin. "The Science of Genetic Disease", lecture by Prof James A. Houghton at Cairnes Theatre, NUI Galway, 8 p.m.
"Drugs in Sport", lecture by Phil Jakeman at Room FB-082 (adjacent to Concert Hall), University of Limerick, 8 p.m.
What's on tomorrow, Saturday, November 7th: "Science and Sport", lecture by Fergal O'Callaghan of National Coaching and Training Centre, University of Limerick at Kirwan Theatre, NUI Galway, 7.30 p.m.
"Art meets Science", lecture at the National Gallery, Merrion Square, followed by a guided tour of "The Deeper Picture" exhibition, 3.30 p.m.
