A Scottish woman who had been given temporary release from Mountjoy Prison in November, two weeks after being sentenced to a year in prison for fraud, was in Galway District Court yesterday. Michelle Dillon, from Ayrshire, faced 70 charges and admitted stealing £3,269 with stolen credit cards since her release.

Insp P.J. Durkin confirmed that Dillon, who has five previous convictions for fraud and larceny in Ireland, was sentenced to 12 months in Mountjoy on November 4th, but given temporary release on November 19th.

Judge John Garavan sentenced her to six months in prison for stealing a handbag in Oranmore, to be served after her 12-month sentence was up, and a further two months on the remaining charges.
