The Scottish Open returns to the European Tour at Loch Lomond on July 12th-15th and will instantly become one of the richest events on the golfing circuit.
Prize money of stg£2.2million will be on offer - twice the sum for the now-defunct Standard Life Loch Lomond tournament in the same week last season and incredibly nearly five times the purse when the last Scottish Open was staged at Carnoustie in 1996.
Ian Woosnam won that and collected stg£80,000. This time the first prize will be stg£366,666.
A minimum five-year agreement has been signed between the tour, Loch Lomond and the International Management Group and it is anticipated a title sponsor will join up at some stage in the deal.
