The SDLP and Sinn Fein have condemned sectarian gun and bomb attacks in north Belfast

The SDLP and Sinn Fein have condemned sectarian gun and bomb attacks in north Belfast. Shots were fired at the home of a son of a leading Sinn Fein member in Ardoyne, Mr Martin Meehan, writes Suzanne Breen in Belfast.

Loyalists opened fire on Sunday night on the house in Farringdon Court but no one was injured. The home of another of Mr Meehan's sons was attacked last week. British army bomb experts dealt with an unexploded pipe bomb in the nationalist Bawnmore Park on the outskirts of north Belfast.

Meanwhile, a Protestant man escaped injury when a shot was fired into his mother's home on Alliance Road in north Belfast. The bullet ricocheted of the wall, narrowly missing Mr Ivan Davidson. SDLP Stormont Minister Mr Sean Farren and Mr Gerry Adams of Sinn Fein blamed UDA members for some of the violence.
