The air and sea search for a missing sixteen-year-old boy which began off the coast of Co Mayo yesterday is continuing.
The boy's father, Tony Lavelle, was rescued from the sea near Belmullet by a Defence Forces helicopter yesterday.
He was taken to Mayo General Hospital in Castlebar where his condition is now said to be stable. He initially suffered from shock and hypothermia.
The Naval vessel LE Ciara is currently commanding the search for the missing teenager. Coastguard units from Ballyglass, Killala and Achill, together with local people, are searching the western side of the Belmullet peninsula.
The Ballyglass lifeboat is co-ordinating a further twelve vessels in a search extending from Erris Head to Blacksod.
The search began at around 12.30 yesterday afternoon.
The father and son were aboard the Sea Swallowand were transporting livestock from a French port to the island of Iniskea, when their ship ran into difficulty.
