A search off the Co Galway coast for a man who fell overboard from a boat this afternoon will resume tomorrow morning.

A search off the Co Galway coast for a man who fell overboard from a boat this afternoon will resume tomorrow morning.

The man went missing from the small fishing boat in "moderate" weather conditions at 2.30 p.m., the Malin Head Coast Guard said.

Lifeboats from Achill and Clifden as well as the LE Emerjoined local fishing vessels in the search for the man, who is believed to be from the Cleggan area of Co Galway and in his thirties.

The Coast Guard helicopter also participated in the operation.

The spokesman said the search would resume at first light in the morning.
