A second man has been charged in Cork District Court in connection with the garda investigation into the murder earlier this week of a 45-year-old woman in Cork city.
18-year-old Mr Thomas Penkert of Flat 3, 26A Leitrim Street, Cork was charged with the burglary of Flat 1, 26A Leitrim Street and with taking E150 of jewellery belonging to the deceased Ms Nora Kiely.
Mr Penkert was remanded in custody to appear before Cork District Court on July 23rd.
A 22-year-old man also appeared before the Court this morning in connection with the murder investigation.
Mr Brian Walsh, of no fixed abode, was arrested by gardaí and taken to Mayfield garda station where he was formally charged with the murder of Ms Kiely on July 15th.
Sgt Joe Moore told the court the defendant who is single and unemployed made no reply when he was arrested, charged and cautioned in relation to the murder.
Solicitor, Donal Daly applied for free legal aid to represent Mr Walsh as his client is currently in receipt of social welfare payments.
Judge Uinsin McGruairc remanded Mr Walsh in custody to appear before the court on July 26th.
