Second U2 concert looking more likely

Meath County Council say they are expecting an application for asecond U2 concert to be held at Slane Castle this summer.

County secretary Mr Kevin Stewart confirmed to ireland.comtoday that after talks with promoters MCD about the first concert, the company indicated it would be seeking alicence to hold a second event.

A representative from MCD was unavailable this afternoon for comment.

Tickets for the August 25th concert at Slane sold out in less than an hour in March, leaving thousands of fans disappointed.

MCD faced criticism because of the way tickets were sold but a spokesman said supply could never have matched demand.

"We could easily have sold 250,000 tickets," Mr Justin Green of MCD said at the time.

There was a limit of six tickets per person and all 80,000 tickets sold out within 45 minutes of going on sale.
