Porters, messengers and security guards at the Bank of Ire land are threatening to strike from November 23rd over a pension claim. SIPTU branch secretary Mr Liam Peppard said they were the only employees the bank whose scheme incorporated their statutory old age pension.
A bank spokesman said most other employees paid contributions to a staff pension scheme, while the SIPTU members had a separate non-contributory scheme. He also said the SIPTU claim had been rejected by the Labour Court.
