MINISTER for Tourism, James McDaid had a pleasant task to perform on Thursday. Although he doesn't drink any more, he frequently stops off for refreshment at Kelly's Pub, Ballygawley, Co Tyrone on the long road between Dublin and Letterkenny. A well-known GAA haunt and local for poet John Montague and writer John D. Stewart, it has now added a guest wing and McDaid performed the opening.
The Minister spoke of the co-operation between the tourism authorities North and South, their plans for the future and how he hoped the pictures of Tyrone GAA stars on the walls wouldn't "intimidate or put the fear of God on Donegal or Derry GAA fans".
