SELF CATERING Ireland, an Irish company that markets and sells self-catering holidays in Ireland, Britain, Europe and the US, has ceased trading.
A customer who was due to begin a holiday tomorrow received correspondence from the firm yesterday. "It is with deep regret that after 14 years in business, Selfcatering.ieannounces that it has ceased trading with immediate effect," the correspondence said.
“We acknowledge that as a customer, you will be inconvenienced and also may be impacted financially as a result. We apologise for this unreservedly.
“Please appreciate that this was a last resort with every effort made by the company to prevent this situation, and it is with deep regret that the company has ceased trading.
“We would advise you to contact the relevant property owners or caretakers directly so that a solution might be arranged regarding your holiday,” the email, dated yesterday, said.
A note on the company website said Selfcatering was “currently unavailable”. Customers were directed to contact the caretaker of their property directly. Calls to the company’s Wexford headquarters yesterday evening were met with an answering machine which repeated the same message.
