Television presenter Gráinne Seoige has been named as a member of ITV's new onscreen editorial team for its forthcoming breakfast show Daybreak.
Daybreak, which replaces GMTV, will be hosted by anchors Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley. It is to begin broadcasting from September on weekdays between 6am and 8.30am.
Ms Seoige has joined the team as features editor, ITV confirmed today. Other Daybreak presenters named today include Kate Garraway, John Stapleton, Dr Hilary Jones and Richard Gaisford.
In a statement today, Ms Seoige said: "I am absolutely thrilled at the news and am delighted everything has gone so well since I began working with GMTV in March of this year."
The broadcaster added she would continue to work with RTÉ on such projects as Up for the Match, People of the Year Awards and the All Ireland Talent Show.
Speculation had mounted recently Ms Seoige was planning a permanent move to Britain after working as a stand-in presenter on GMTV.
She recently completed filming the All-Ireland Talent Show for RTÉ. Her work on that programme followed the cancellation of the Seoige Show, which ran for three years. Gráinne Seoige's co-presenter for the first two seasons, when the show's title was Seoige and O'Shea, was Joe O'Shea, while her sister Síle co-presented for the final series.
Ms Seoige became well-known after working as a news anchor on TG4. She also held similar roles with TV3 and Sky News Ireland.
