Damascus - Seven Syrian children were killed and four others injured yesterday when their mountainside school collapsed on top of them.
The two-storey building caved in after rocks came loose further up the mountain and crashed onto the boys' school just outside Damascus.
The victims were aged eight and nine. Another 11 children were evacuated unharmed.
A witness said the disaster could have been much worse, but the collapse happened during a class break when most of the school's 450 pupils were outside.
