Seven divers, 16 Spanish crewmen rescued from sea

Seven divers who went missing off Ardmore Point in Connemara this afternoon have been located.

Seven divers who went missing off Ardmore Point in Connemara this afternoon have been located.

The divers are believed to have got into trouble when they drifted off from their guide boat earlier today.

The Aran Islands lifeboat and a rescue helicopter were both involved in the search and rescue mission.

Elsewhere, 16 crewmen aboard a Spanish trawler had to be rescued this morning after their vessel sank.

The crewmen, who were aboard the Centurio 1vessel were some 80 nautical miles off Erris Head in Co Mayo when it ran into difficulties.

The crewmen were taken onboard the Ana Gandon, another Spanish trawler in a resue operation.

Allof the crew are reported to be safe and well and will arrive in Killybegs tomorrow afternoon
