Three soldiers died when a bomb went off near their vehicle north of Baghdad yesterday."The unit was conducting a security escort mission when the roadside bomb detonated, killing three soldiers and wounding another," the military said.Two soldiers died on Thursday when their patrol was attacked in eastern Baghdad. "The unit was conducting a combat patrol when the roadside bomb detonated, killing two soldiers and wounding two others," a statement said.Two soldiers died and three others were wounded in separate incidents on Friday in the province of Diyala, an insurgent stronghold where clashes between security forces and Sunni militants are frequent.

At least 3,067 US soldiers have died in Iraq since the US-led invasion in 2003 to topple Saddam Hussein.
