London - Britain's punk pioneers, The Sex Pistols, have been snubbed for a top music honour in favour of their US counterparts.
The band - whose vitriolic anthem God Save The Queen was a number two hit in the Queen's silver jubilee year - had been nominated for a place in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame, but failed to get in.
However, The Ramones, who were on the rise in New York in the same mid-70s period, were honoured.
