The Sinn Fein chairman of Monaghan Urban District Council, Mr Owen Smith, has renewed his call for his mail to be monitored after a third padded envelope was delivered in the post to his home.
The council chairman had received two other padded packages in his mail in the last fortnight. One of these was a bomb, while the second turned out to be an elaborate hoax. The parcels were dealt with by an Army bomb disposal unit based in Dundalk.
The third package turned out to be a jigsaw for Mr Smith's youngest son.
Mr Smith spoke to the Taoiseach last week about the matter and also to the chief superintendent of the Cavan-Monaghan Garda division.
He said that he had given permission for all his mail to be monitored in the post office, so he was concerned about the delivery of a third package to his home.
