Dubliner Pádraig Harrington, fourth overnight in the Benson and Hedges International Open at The Belfry, had a clearly shaky start to the second round today.
While his playing partner, Ryder Cup captain Sam Torrance, sank a 14-foot birdie putt on the 10th (their first) to move to second place at five under, Harrington double-bogeyed the hole and fell to two under.
He finished his opening 68 with successive birdies but saw his pitch over the water spin off the green to his clear disgust.
After deciding to play his next shot from the same spot he almost did the same thing but the ball this time stopped on the lake's edge.
But Harrington, the man disqualified when five clear last year because of a scorecard signing mistake, managed to steady himself and birdied the 384-yard 13th to grab one shot back.
Overnight leaders Paul McGinley and Swede Henrik Stenson on six under par are among the later starters today.
