Former England striker Teddy Sheringham believes he still has plenty to offer as a player after joining Portsmouth on a one-year contract today.
The 37-year-old ended his second spell with Tottenham Hotspur in May after being told he was no longer required.
"The lure of the premiership is still there," Sheringham told a news conference after completing his move to Fratton Park.
"I still think I've got something to offer, so when (manager) Harry (Redknapp) came calling I only had to listen.
"It didn't take long to convince me to join. I'm optimistic and I've got a good feeling about coming here."
Sheringham, who has won 51 England caps, has scored more than 300 domestic goals in spells with Millwall, Nottingham Forest, Manchester United and Spurs.
The striker enjoyed a highly successful spell at Old Trafford, famously helping United win the 1999 Treble with an injury-time equaliser in their Champions League final victory over Bayern Munich.
"Teddy is class, class, class," Redknapp said. "I'm very pleased to have him here,"
Sheringham is Redknapp's third signing this month after Serbia & Montenegro defender Dejan Stefanovic and Czech midfielder Patrik Berger joined the club.
