Police in Antrim arrested a man after fighting broke out at a shop opening early this morning.

The public order incident occurred when people tried to jump the queue outside the Clockwork Orange shop in the Junction One retail outlet on Antrim's Ballymena road.

About 2,000 people had gathered at the shop opening at 5am, a police spokeswoman said. However, tempers frayed when some of these tried to skip the large queue.

Shoppers were trying to take part in the "Beat the Clock" promotion where the cost of an item is calculated by the time of purchase. The area is now said to be calm.
