The Police Service of Northern Ireland are investigating reports of shots being fired at a house in Belfast.
A spokesman said shots were fired through the window of a house on Parkend Street at around 6.45 a.m.
There are no reports of any injuries.
The gun attack was condemned by SDLP Assembly member for North Belfast Mr Alban Maginness, who called for an end to violence.
"This is a shocking attack on a woman and her young family. There is no doubt that they are very lucky to be alive," he said.
"This is part and parcel of ongoing intimidation and violence being carried out against families in North Belfast.
"It is especially tragic when this type of attack takes place over the Christmas period. It is essential that as we enter the New Year these type of attacks end and people are allowed to live in peace."
