A former Irish showband singer and musician has died in Canada. Pianist and vocalist Johnny Burgoine (72), from Newcastle, Co Down, who lived for several years at Castleblayney, Co Monaghan, had played for a number of years with the Maurice Lynch Showband and Pat Campbell’s Showband.
He moved with the family to Alberta in Canada some years ago. He is survived by three sons, John, Stephen, and Owen, and a sister Elizabeth. His wife, Della, died over seven years ago.
