Sales of new cars in January are likely to be up 15 to 20 per cent on the same period last year as the rush to own a year 2000-registered vehicle gets under way, reports Kitty Holland.
By 4.30 p.m. yesterday the Vehicle Registration Office at Tallaght in Dublin, the busiest in the State, had registered 3,184 new cars. This compares with 10,896 registered during the whole of January last year.
