Press Association reporter Nick Sommerlad, 27, said the wedding took place three weeks ago and they were both very happy.
O'Connor, 35, whose hits include Nothing Compares 2 U, met Sommerlad in February after he was posted to Dublin.
Sommerlad, who is a distant relative of Sweden's Queen Silvia, proposed only a few months later following a whirlwind romance.
He said at the time he did not have any problems with her star status.
"We fell for each other very quickly. Both of us have been out with various people in the past, but we are both very happy now."
Mother-of-two O'Connor has previously had relationships with a number of journalists.
She was formerly married to writer John Reynolds, who is the father of her son Jake, 13.
Irish Timescolumnist John Waters is the father of her five-year-old daughter Roisín.
Three years ago she was ordained as a priest by Tridentine Catholic Bishop Michael Cox.
