Vijay Singh of Fiji gave a professional golf lesson to Frankie Minoza of the Philippines to take the lead in the third round of the Singapore Masters today in a match briefly interrupted by a thunder storm.
Ireland’s Padraig Harrington, who had shared the lead going into the second round, saw his challenge falter and slipped to six shots off the pace on 12 under par. The Dubliner could only manage a level par 71 and finds himself with only slim hopes of catching the leaders tomorrow.
Singh did not hit the front until the final hole with steady golf helping him take the outright lead with a score of 18 under par at the Singapore Island Country Club's Bukit Course.
Leading by two strokes after 16 holes, Minoza dropped a shot on each of the final two holes to finish one stroke behind at 17 under par. His third round score of even par 71 was a big let down after his second round blitz of 10 under par 61 Friday.
Colin Montgomerie continued his impressive start to the season and lies two shots further behind at 15 under par, well placed to challenge on the final day.
