Siptu is to go ahead with planned industrial action at Dublin Airport tomorrow despite a meeting between union officials and Aer Lingus today.

Major disruption is expected at the airport tomorrow due to the industrial action which is to take place between 9.45 and 11am. Passengers are advised to check-in as normal during the action.

A spokesman for Siptu said that the meeting will take place today but that the action will go ahead as planned. Today's meeting is expected to focus mainly on pensions.

Siptu's membership at the airport include baggage handlers, catering, administrative and cleaning staff as well as some cabin crew.

Pay and reward schemes, which are being considered by the Labour Court, pensions and the maintenance of job numbers are among the union's main concerns.

Siptu members are also understood to be concerned about media reports that Aer Lingus was prepared to proceed with privatisation with or without union agreement.

In press advertisements today, Aer Lingus apologised to customers said there would be disruption to flights tomorrow. Passengers should, however, check in at the correct time.
