Six people have been arrested in connection with the murder of a 19-year-old man in Limerick last November.
Jeffrey Hannon was found dead on an open green area in a housing estate at Galtee Drive near the Galvone Industrial Estate on November 22nd last year.
One person was arrested yesterday, and five more people were arrested today in relation to the murder inquiry, a Garda statement said.
The four women and two men are all from the south Limerick city area and are aged from their late teens to early 20s. They are detained at various Garda stations in the city and county.
There have also been follow-up searches throughout the city, the Garda said.
Mr Hannon, the father of a baby daughter, had not long returned home from England when he was murdered. He was last seen alive by his mother at a bonfire near his home in the early hours of the morning on which he was later found dead by a passer by.
No weapon was found at the scene of the murder, which took place less than 100 yards his home in O'Malley Park, Southill.
A postmortem found he died from serious head injuries, which it is understood were inflicted with a heavy, sharp instrument. Gardaí said at the time the attack was one of the most vicious they had seen.
