Six people were arrested last night after a garda car was shot at in Limerick city.
A Garda spokesman said the unmarked patrol car responded to reports of a stolen car in Ballygrennan Close, Moyross at 9.20 p.m. The car had crashed in the area.
"While there a male discharged a shot at the rear of the vehicle which was hit", he said. Three uniformed gardaí in the car were uninjured, the spokesman added. It is unclear what type of gun was used in the incident.
In a follow-up operation three men and three women were arrested. They are being held under Section 30, of the Offences Against the State Act.
