A violent mob killed six members of a family and set their home ablaze in India's troubled northeastern state of Assam early this morning in continuing clashes between locals and settlers from the eastern state of Bihar, police said.
"The mob attacked a house of a Bihari family in Dibrugarh town and chopped to death all six members and set their house on fire," a police spokesman said.
Clashes between locals and Biharis started after some train travellers from Assam were attacked in Bihar last week following reports of assaults on some Bihari students in Assam early this month.
