Six people were taken to hospital yesterday after the coach in which they were travelling overturned after skidding on a patch of ice on the main Cork to Dublin road.
The private air coach, which was travelling from Dublin, left the road and hit the wall of a house at Brackbawn, Kilbehenny, Co Limerick at 9.15am yesterday.
One passenger sustained a broken leg. but the other five passengers and the driver of the bus escaped serious injury.
Two passengers were taken to Cork University Hospital, two to Mallow General and the remaining two were taken to South Tipperary General.
A spokeswoman for the HSE South said the two patients taken to Mallow General had been discharged before lunch yesterday.
The two taken to Cork University Hospital were stable, while those taken to Tipperary had very minor injuries.
Fire engines from Mitchelstown, Cahir, Fermoy and Kilmallock attended the scene along with a fleet of ambulances.
A spokesman for Mitchelstown Garda said the road had not been closed off as a result of the accident, but there had been long tailbacks and motorists were being warned of delays yesterday morning.
"The air coach skidded on patch of ice and collided into the wall of a private dwelling. There was no other vehicle involved and nobody was seriously injured," he said. An investigation into the cause of the accident is under way.
The owner of the house where the accident occurred, John O'Brien said it was lucky that a safety barrier had stopped the bus from going through the wall and hitting the house where he lives with his wife and son.
