Six people have been killed in two incidents of violence in India's Kashmir, police said today.
The government there is bracing for more attacks after a suicide bombing at the state legislature this week.
Three militants belonging to the Pakistan-based Hizbul Mujahideen group were killed in a clash with security forces in Doda district, 175 kilometres east of Jammu, the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir, a defence official said.
In another incident, three Indian soldiers were killed and several wounded when a bomb planted in a corpse went off near the Pakistan border, police said.
A group of soldiers on a patrol saw a dead body at Uri sector. As soon as the soldiers tried to lift the body, a bomb planted in the body went off, killing three soldiers instantly, a police official said.
The number of wounded was not known. No group has claimed responsibility for the blast which happened yesterday.
A senior intelligence official said today the government expected Pakistan-based militants to target Jammu after the administration moves there from Srinagar at the end of the month.
Violence flared again in the state this week after a sharp drop in separatist violence following the September 11th air attacks on the United States.
