Six questioned over fatal Co Down beating

A number of people have been questioned overnight in connection with the beating to death of a man in Co Down yesterday.

A number of people have been questioned overnight in connection with the beating to death of a man in Co Down yesterday.

The man's body was found at the back of a house shortly before 5 a.m. in the Cline Road area of Banbridge.

Police said the 29-year-old man was beaten to death with heavy implements and suggested spades may have been used.

Four men and two women were held as part of the PSNI's investigation and they have not ruled out further arrests.

Chief Inspector Steven Day described the killing as "an horrific murder" an appealed for witnesses to come forward.

The attack is not thought linked to terrorism or sectarian.
