Six Muslim militants and two policemen were killed in a shoot-out with Saudi security forces trying to arrest wanted Islamists today, Saudi television said.
The television report, quoting an interior ministry official, said eight other policemen were wounded in the clash in a farm in the Qassim province - an Islamist heartland in the northeast of Saudi Arabia, the sources added.
Riyadh has recently intensified its crackdown on al Qaeda militants loyal to Osama bin Laden.
