The DIRT inquiry enters its final stage of public hearings today with cross-examination of AIB and Revenue officials by legal counsel for both institutions.
An initial list of 18 witnesses for cross-examination has been whittled down to six at the last count, three each from AIB and the Revenue.
A former attorney general, Mr Dermot Gleeson SC, for AIB, will question Revenue officials while another former attorney general, Mr Eoghan Fitzsimons SC, will act on behalf of the Revenue.
The Public Accounts Committee's chairman, Mr Jim Mitchell, expects the cross-examination to be finished today and closing submissions will be completed tomorrow, bringing an end to the public hearings.
The inquiry's six TDs are hopeful their final report will be completed before Christmas.
